Biodynamic Agriculture is the oldest form of
organised organic agriculture, developed in the 1920’s as a response to
the chemical fertilisers that were already in use. Because each farm is seen
as
an individuality, questions arise about the role of the cow, crop rotation,
manure, compost, preparations and the sowing calendar. In this course for
small-scale gardeners, these questions will be addressed, basic principles
of biodynamics will be introduced and there will be time for discussion. We
will visit the college garden, the compost yard to see how the theory works
in practice. Please bring appropriate waterproof clothing and footwear.with Arjen

Biodynamic
Agriculture - Beyond the Visible
Sun 6-1Sat 12th July 2008
Venue: Emerson College, Forest Row, East Sussex, RH18 5JX
Tel: 01342 822238 www.emerson.org.uk
Biodynamics is the oldest form of
organic agriculture, and at the same time the most advanced. In biodynamic
agriculture we look at plants and animals on different levels. With our eyes
we can see their physical appearances; by studying them we can find out why
they look the way they look, and what that tells us about the forces that
work through them. In biodynamics we have the tools to strengthen our crops
on the level of these forces. That is what makes biodynamic agriculture so
exciting: we are able to support our plants and animals straight through
their life forces.
During this week, we will study the forces
that give form to our plants. We will find out about the cosmic rhythms that
express themselves in plant growth. We will learn about compost, and how we
recycle more than just nutrients. We will find out about the tools that we
can use to support the life forces, and we will practise how to work with
them.Whether you arean allotment holder,a student or a farmer;this one-week
course will change the way you look at plants and animals. If you’ve
always thought a plant is more than a bag of proteins and genes, this is the
course for you. with Arjen Huese
