10th—12th October 2008 - All Welcome
Venue: Camphill Clanabogan,15 Drudgeon Road, Clanabogan, Omagh Co. Tyrone BT78 1TJ
For several years now the Biodynamic Agricultural Association has integrated its Annual General Meeting as part of a weekend conference hosted by one of the regional groups. This year we are meeting in Northern Ireland as guests of Clanabogan Camphill Community (www.camphillclanabogan.com). Meeting in Ireland provides a golden opportunity for connecting up with colleagues in the Irish Republic. We very much hope that many members of the Irish Biodynamic Association (www.biodynamic.ie) will join us.
New film on biodynamic gardening
On Friday evening there will be a showing of a brand new film released as a DVD: Biodynamic Gardening – the Tools to Nurture your Garden”. It features Lynette West who has been running regular biodynamic introduction courses in the UK, showing biodynamic methods to gardeners at Garden Organic in Ryton. With them you can learn the vortex to chaos stirring techniques, how to make biodynamic compost, understand the biodynamic preparations, the sowing and planting calendar and much more. The film of approximately 40 minutes will provide a focus for the evening within a more informal opportunity to meet one another.
Renewable energy
Clanabogan has developed renewable energy systems on its farm including a biomass plant producing woodchips from willow beds for its community heating. During the weekend there will be an opportunity to see how energy production can be integrated within a biodynamic context. An evening talk on Saturday evening by Michael Miklis, director of BDAAI will address the theme with a talk on “The Farm as a Renewable Entity”.
The AGM business
This will include an overview of what is happening in the British and Irish biodynamic movement with opportunities for questions and discussion as well as approving BDAA accounts and electing new Council members. Although only BDAA members may formally vote, other friends can also attend and participate in discussions.
The Annual report for 2007-2008 is now available on request together with the full accounts. Nominations to council can still be received using the nomination form until 6th October
