‘NATRUE certification: For those who are proud to use natural ingredients’

The allowed ingredients are water, natural substances, nature identical substances and derived natural substances only, and nothing else! Please refer to the NATRUE criteria for more details.

Cosmetic and skin care products can be certified and labelled using the NATRUE logo to three levels:

1. Natural cosmetics

Here there is a minimum threshold for natural ingredients and maximum for derived natural ingredients that need to be met for the appropriate product category.

2. Natural cosmetics with an organic portion

At least 70% of the natural (or derived natural if applicable) ingredients are to come from certified organic agriculture and/or controlled collection from the wild. Higher minimum levels of natural ingredients and lower maximum level of derived natural ingredients are required than the first level above.

3. Organic cosmetics

At least 95% of the natural (or derived natural if applicable) ingredients are to come from certified organic agriculture and/or controlled wild collection. In addition, the minimum levels for natural ingredients are even higher than for the second level of certification above.

Raw materials

These can also be assessed using the NATRUE criteria. Once approved they are registered on a database for cosmetic producers working with NATRUE. Certified raw materials are very attractive to certified cosmetic producers who are looking to extend and enhance their ranges.
