Initially on 12 month Fixed Term Contract

16.5 hours per week over 2 days

Up to £24,278 per annum pro rata depending on experience

Blackthorn Garden needs a part-time Plant Nursery Team Leader to work with individuals with mental health and physical health conditions and lead this important strand of our social enterprise trading activity. 

The post is based within Blackthorn Garden, near Maidstone, where individuals with mental health or physical health conditions (known as Co-Workers) come to recover through joining working teams within our workshops within the Blackthorn community.  The site is open to the public and is an established and developing social enterprise, incorporating a biodynamic garden, plant nursery, herb workshop, vegetarian café, bakery, craft studio and wood workshop.  The work of Blackthorn Trust is based on the teachings of Rudolf Steiner.

The role is varied and challenging.  It requires a strong ability to nurture and work creatively with individuals in recovery alongside leading the day to day running of the Plant Nursery social enterprise through the seasons.  Working closely with others within the wider Blackthorn Garden team (staff, volunteers and co-workers), the role requires a caring, flexible and professional approach, alongside an ability to develop good, collaborative working relationships and seize opportunities to maximize opportunities for development.

The postholder will need to be a great organizer, a good all round communicator, flexible and caring with appropriate horticultural knowledge.  If this sounds like you, we would like to hear from you.
