Glasshouse College provides innovative and experiential education and training for young people marginalized by disadvantage, exclusion or special learning needs. Inspired by Rudolf Steiner and John Ruskin, the College actively promotes the industrial heritage of the Black Country through craftsmanship and entrepreneurship in traditional and contemporary industrial crafts.
Applicants are invited for the following post that will be based near Stourbridge, West Midlands
Tutor, Farm Development for Glasshouse Project, W Mids
Salary £18,600 - £27,850 pro rota dependent on qualifications
(5 days per week, 52 weeks per year)
The post holder will be required to work directly with the farm manager as part of a land work team of tutors, focussing on the practical development of the farm infrastructure as well as helping to plan for educational developments.
Key duties in this role will include the delivery of the curriculum to young people with social and learning difficulties and also;
• To develop a coherent practical and aesthetic plan for farm buildings
• To oversee building projects to include; communicating with and negotiating with contractors; liaising with architects, etc
• Teaching students basic construction skills in a practical setting.
To undertake this position successfully you will have;
• Experience of working with learners with learning difficulties and / or learning disabilities;
• Design, building and project management skills;
• Practical skills and a hands-on approach to work is essential.
Applicants for tutoring posts must hold, or be working towards, or prepared to work towards relevant teaching qualifications in accordance with government regulations.
