Loch Arthur is a commercial Biodynamic farm on a 500 acre estate in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland. We run a 30 cow dairy herd, 25 pedigree Galloway suckler cows, 60 traditional Scottish Blackface Sheep, pedigree Glouster Oldspot pigs, chicken and geese. We are growing 30 acres of cereals for stock feed and 2 acres of potatoes. All our milk is processed in our creamery and we supply all the meat for our farm shop and the community, the rest being sold on the organic market.  The farm has been fully certified biodynamic since 1984.
Loch Arthur is part of the Camphill Village Trust. We are a working Community which includes men and women with learning disabilities. There are nine houses in which altogether more than 70 people live, including about twenty-eight people in supported tenancies. Besides the farm we run a large garden, a creamery, a bakery, a wood workshop, a weaving workshop and the farm shop.
Apprentices are expected to live and join in with community life and work alongside people with special needs as part of the farm team.
