2nd June 2023An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Camphill Community Clanabogan Farm Team, based in Northern Ireland, Omagh. Our community is situated only 50 minutes away from the beautiful Atlantic coast, which offers endless opportunities for outings, beach walks, surfing and much more. We are looking for a farmer to join our Farm Team, who enjoys milking and looking after our herd of 16 Short Horn milking cows and their offspring in an animal-friendly way and help with the general running of the farm and grassland management.
A few years ago, we introduced a mother-bonded calf-rearing system and only milk the cows once a day in the morning.
Our herd spends the winter months in a large light barn with plenty of roaming space in the yard and under roof with straw bedded sleeping cubicles for all animals and their calves.
We operate a hay barn drying system and only feed our cattle good quality hay.
The welfare of our animals is an important feature in the community.
A team of 15 adults with special needs and their support workers are fully integrated in the daily work on the farm, the garden and field work.
Camphill Clanabogan is a life-sharing therapeutic community, offering supported living and day opportunities for adults with disabilities. Besides the farm, the community has various workshops, such as a weaving/ felting workshop, wood workshop, bakery, pottery, garden and estate.
The community is based on Rudolf Steiner’s principles and strives to recognise each individual person’s inherent uniqueness and contribution to the community, whether with or without disability.
