Development of most Comprehensive Regenerative Textile Standards
26th September 2024My name is Gary Christopher Davies, a 37-year-old passionate grower from Liverpool, and I am seeking to lease 1 to 4 acres of land in Cheshire or North Wales to establish a commercial ecological organic market garden.
Inspired by leading growers like Eliot Coleman, Jesse Frost, and Jean-Martin Fortier, I plan to implement organic and biodynamic methods to cultivate seasonal vegetables, microgreens, and cut flowers. My focus is on improving soil health, biodiversity, and ecological balance, utilising regenerative practices such as crop rotation, cover cropping and employing season extension for year-round production.
In addition to providing fresh produce to the local community via veg boxes, I aim also to supply seasonal produce to local restaurants and businesses. I also aim to incorporate beekeeping to enhance pollination and produce local honey, alongside cultivating wildflowers and encouraging bird species for natural pest control.
The farm will have minimal impact on the land, with only movable structures such as poly/caterpillar tunnels for growing, propagation, and processing produce. Ideally, I would love the option to live on-site in a self-sufficient cabin or yurt while working on the land, if possible.
I am seeking landowners who share a passion for sustainable agriculture and would be interested in leasing or sharing a portion of their land for this venture. I am more than happy to lend a helping hand on your farm if needed in return for your generosity.
If you have any relatively flat land available and are excited about supporting an eco-friendly farming enterprise, I would love to hear from you.
