Garden Teachers
Jim Hildyard: I have worked for Ruskin Mill Trust for 8 years. I was employed to develop a Biodynamic farm from scratch at a beautiful site called Eyam Edge in the heart of the Peak District National Park. It has been a wonderful experience to do this work alongside the students at Brantwood Specialist School. It continues to be a very fulfilling role.
Jack Spacey-Helder: I am the horticulture tutor at Brantwood Specialist School’s outdoor provision in the Peak District, where I engage young people in meaningful and therapeutic land-based activities. I have built and maintain the kitchen garden on our wild and windy site, where we supply 3 school sites with fresh Biodynamic produce. The kitchen garden follows a no-dig/minimal till approach, which enables us to grow spectacular produce even at 1300 ft. I am nearing completion of my Biodynamic Level 3 qualification, which has given me great insights into holistic growing and farming practices, particularly within a therapeutic environment.

Directions to the venue:
You can find us by searching ‘The Trap House’ on Google Maps – we are just a short drive past here (there is a kink in the road and a short straight) and you will find us on the left before the road bends to the right.

Alternatively – please use the below directions to guide you.
From Sheffield, drive out of the city on Ecclesall Road South and continue out into The Peak District National Park.
When you see Fox House pub on the left prepare for a right hand bend in the road. After the bend turn immediately left following signs for Grindleford. Longshaw estate is on your left.
Upon arriving in Grindleford, cross the bridge, take the right turn signposted Hathersage.
Almost immediately turn left up a steep hill called ‘Sir William Hill’ road. Follow this to the top of the hill, where the road bends sharp left. Continue until you reach a right turn signposted Bretton. Take this turn and follow the road up.
Pass Highcliffe Farm on the right, keep going past an old mill on the left, a kink in the road and ultimately up to a high point.
You can access the site through a gate on the left, or continue up to an off-road parking spot on the right. You can then walk back to the site. We can be identified by our green roof. S32 5QT will get you close.
