The Rivetto winery, in the Piedmont region of Italy, is the latest Italian wine producer to achieve biodynamic status with Demeter, one of the largest certification bodies.
‘Organic isn’t complete as it only governs the things you aren’t allowed to use,’ says Enrico Rivetto, the fourth generation of the winemaking family. ‘Biodynamics is a complete self-sustaining agricultural system… [it] should be the norm for an agricultural property.’
After a 10-year journey, Rivetto’s entire 100,000-bottle annual production will be certified biodynamic, starting with its 2019 vintage wines, which will be available in the UK once released from The Biodynamic Store.
