Studio Claudy Jongstra enters spring with fresh steps into the green surroundings of the studio and the biodynamic farm. From this vibrant hub she focuses on an inspiring event that you are cordially invited to participate in, offering an encouraging collaboration, sharing insights and experiences and taking collective action in shaping new regenerative systems for a more sustainable and resilient future.
Claudy Jongstra and her team are organizing an exceptional transformative 3-day masterclass titled ‘Toward Resilience and Regeneration’. The serene 220-acre biodynamic farm and lush gardens of Waltham Place in Berkshire, England, form the magnificent backdrop and base for this special masterclass that you do not want to miss.
Studio Claudy Jongstra and Loads Education will share generously from 25 years of Jongstra’s expertise in the traditional handcraft techniques of wool felting and plant-based dyeing and her extensive experience in leading masterclasses in collaboration with diverse international universities and institutions.
The artist, who aims to bring textile artistry and ecological stewardship together in her work, initiates daily engaging workshops, guest lectures, and guided tours. This experience will bridge regenerative agriculture, art, science, education, ecology, and architecture.
Inspiring lectures and participations
Participants have the opportunity to attend an inspirational lecture by keynote speaker Gem Barton. The Senior Tutor and lead of superfutures.rca, will talk passionately about design and speculative policy making.
Social entrepreneur and artist Alan Boldon is also founder and director of Weave, where methods are tested for engaging with complex challenges and who has recently delivered learning labs, workshops and events at MIT, the UN, UNESCO, etc. Boldon will give a lecture on the succes of creating an international network of bioregional learning labs, exploring ways to shape a more sustainable and regenerative future.
Attendees can also tap into their own creativity by being led by Senior Researcher and Lecturer on Art & Sustainability, Jan van Boeckel of the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, in making a watercolour ‘wildpainting’ with biodynamic pigment plants harvested on Waltham Place farm.
Claudy Jongsta offers insight into the holistic process behind the creation of her unique artworks, allowing participants to create their one-of-a-kind work sourced completely from Waltham Place materials.
Warm thanks to Iona Stichting for making the cultivation of biodynamic dye plants at Waltham Place possible, which will start this spring.
