Camphill Community Clanabogan farm is a 150 acre / 60 ha organic bio-dynamic dairy pasture farm, outside Omagh, in Northern Ireland.

A vacancy has arisen for a farm worker who enjoys and is competent in field and farm machinery work.
Requirements would be taking part in: milking 12 Shorthorn cows, seasonal hay making, daily electric fencing, daily manual barn cleaning, tractor and hay crane work and operating our hay barn drying system. Training will be available. You will be working in a team with people with learning disabilities.

Our farm team also takes responsibility for a number of tasks which are not directly related to the running of the farm, but form an essential part of our community e.g. maintaining our pond sewage system, feeding the biomass woodchip system and estate maintenance.

At present, the farm team consists of a Farm Manager, a farm worker, 2 support workers, between 2 and 8 adults with learning disabilities and about 3 volunteers.

This position is full-time, 40 hours per week @ 12.90 / hour. Shifts include weekends and rotas, and holidays are arranged according to the farm’s needs and as far as possible the individuals’ needs. The welfare of our animals is an important feature in the community.

The full herd (45 head) is grazed outside in the summer and spends the winter in a large light barn, with straw-bedded sleeping cubicles and plenty of roaming space in the yard and under the roof. The cattle supply milk, meat, yoghurt, butter and cream cheese to the community.

Camphill Clanabogan is a life-sharing therapeutic community that offers supported living and day opportunities for adults with learning disabilities. Besides the farm, the community has a vegetable garden and various workshops, such as a weaving/felting, wood, bakery and pottery. The community is based on Rudolf Steiner principles and strives to recognise each individual’s inherent uniqueness and contribution, whether with or without disability.

We are also keen to hear from people interested in joining and living in the community, eg individuals or couples, with or without children.
