About David Parry & Nathalie Alcock:
David: Following graduation with a degree in Geography from University of London, with a focus on sustainability and agriculture, I have chosen to dedicate myself to the study of community-scale sustainable food systems and therapeutic land stewardship.
Over the past 13 years I have completed a National Diploma in Sustainable Land Use with the late Patrick Whitefield, along with applied permaculture design courses with both rural and urban emphases. I have designed and implemented a variety of grassroots land initiatives including market gardens, agroforestry systems, community allotments, therapeutic horticultural practice and a soft-fruit nursery management. Subsequent to my initiation in permaculture and no-dig systems, I have discovered the biodynamic method whereby holistic land management harmonises with personal development. I am thrilled to share my acquired practical learning with fellow students who seek to deepen their connection and understanding of land stewardship.
Natalie: Since graduating in 2005, I have specialised in educating children and young people with emphasis in outdoor education. I have established gardens, youth clubs, overseas projects and home education networks. I have worked with the Ruskin Mill Trust since 2021 as the Land and Animal Tutor at Grace Garden School. We grow biodynamic fruits, vegetables, culinary & medicinal herbs and cut flowers as a therapeutic educational experience for children with additional needs.
Gardening has been a passion of mine for over 20 years leading me to gain knowledge and experience of organic and regenerative land management. Working with the biodynamic method has deepened my understanding of farming in harmony with the land and I’m thrilled to share this with participants on the Step-by-Step programme.
